I’m a writer and teacher living in Lawrence, Kansas. My fiction and short memoir focus on adolescent girlhood, posttraumatic stress, and sexual violence and have appeared in places like Juked, Necessary Fiction, Quarterly West, Mid-American Review, Hayden's Ferry Review, Redivider, Barrelhouse, and Crab Orchard Review. Someone once described my work as being “about cold people doing cold things,” which I blame on having been raised in the woods of eastern Maine, an upbringing that made me deeply suspicious of anything too heartwarming or fun. I have an MFA from Indiana University and a PhD from the University of Kansas where I currently teach creative writing and composition.
